Bumblebee (12A) (SCENE)

Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) lives in a small, coastal town in California where nothing exciting ever happens. About to turn 18, she’s searching for something bigger – but she doesn’t quite know exactly what she’s looking for.

And then she discovers an old yellow VW in the local junkyard, badly in need of some care and attention. Charlie drives it home, thinking she’s found a little project to keep her busy. But the car reveals itself to be something more…
It turns out that the Volkswagen is actually Bumblebee, a living robotic being that hails from a distant planet.

After she recovers from the initial shock, Charlie begins to get to know Bumblebee and realises he’s just as lost as she is. Worried about Bumblebee’s lack of social skills, Charlie teaches him how to conceal himself from other people, as she knows others won’t be as accepting of a giant mechanical alien…

As she introduces Bumblebee to California, the unlikely friends have a series of adventures. For the first time in her life, Charlie feels she has a purpose.

But it turns out that Bumblebee isn’t alone. Other beings from his home planet have travelled to Earth, but they’re intentions aren’t as innocent.

On the brink of a full out war, Charlie and Bumblebee must find a way to stop the other Transformers from destroying the human race, while also preventing the human race from destroying the two of them…

Bumblebee is the first spin-off film from the hugely popular Transformers series, focussing on the fan-favourite character Bumblebee. Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect 3) stars as Charlie, with John Cena (Blockers) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming), along with the vocal talent of Angela Bassett (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) and Justin Theroux (Star Wars: The Last Jedi).
