Sarah Bellows (Kathleen Pollard), a tortured young girl with dark secrets, turned her horribly twisted life into a series of scary stories, with each monster more gruesome than the last.
Years later, in 1968, a group of teens led by Stella Nicholls (Zoe Colletti) breaks into a long-abandoned mansion and stumbles upon poor Sarah’s book and flicks through the terrifying pages.
Taking the book home with her, Stella reads through the passages, intrigued by the horror. The very next day, however, the young teen learns of a terrifying truth: the haunted stories have been brought to life and the monsters within have awoken.
As each of her friends and schoolmates’ names are written as characters in the tales, the teenagers find their lives on the line as a host of foul, malevolent monsters begin to hunt every last one of them.
Directed by Norwegian André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Troll Hunter) and co-produced by Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth), this haunting horror based on the children’s book series of the same name stars Zoe Colletti (Wildlife, Annie), Michael Garza (Wayward Pines, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1), and Austin Zajur (Fist Fight, Delinquent). Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is sure to keep you spooked.
