Mother’s Day at The Printworks

If Mother’s were flowers you’d be the one I’d pick!

Mother’s are precious and The Printworks wanted to show how much Mum’s of Manchester mean to them and how the love between mother’s and their children grow each day.

People were asked to write in with a message to their Mum and here at The Printworks we would plant a flower on their behalf along with their note! The Printworks rooftop garden has been looking a bit tired from the cold winter weather and The Volition team from the Cathedral were looking forward to giving us a helping hand on our rooftop ready for the summer months so it was perfect timing!

As well as Mother’s getting a lovely flower planted on their behalf this is also giving The Printworks bees somewhere to forage. The Printworks have four beehives on its roof and the bees unfortunately suffered a difficult year in 2016 with poor weather, disease and lack of places to forage. The Printworks are hoping to have a successful year in 2017 so that there is enough honey to harvest which can then be sold to raise money for The Booth Centre.

The bulbs were planted and an individual image sent to each person that sent us a message.

We are looking forward to seeing these bulbs grow and we will keep an eye on them on the coming weeks and months. Keep an eye out on our social media pages for images of the flowers growing!

Thank you to everyone took part!
