The ‘Stop Abuse’ campaign was launched simultaneously in the five North West Counties on Wednesday 19 November at J.D Wetherspoon venues including Lloyd's in The Printworks.
The ‘Stop Abuse’ campaign aims to highlight that attacks on ambulance staff are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It will be delivered in partnership with Pubwatch and the five police forces across the region.
The campaign is believed to be the biggest anti violence initiative of its kind.
In the Greater Manchester area alone there were 44 assaults from April 2008 to October 2008 and a further 109 verbal abuse incidents. It is anticipated that the campaign will encourage ambulance crews to report assaults so the appropriate action can be taken.
